How we make it
Every seam is saddle-stitched by hand, so a cut thread cannot unravel it, and we hold the thread and hardware for everything we have ever sold. Orders leave Sheridan within 2 business days. Unused pieces come back within 30 days.
A short range, made repeatedly
We carry 13 pieces across 4 categories, between $26.00 and $168.00. Every piece here is cut from the same two hides and stitched the same way, which is what lets one person make a bag in a day instead of a factory making forty badly. Keeping the range short is also how we can hold hardware and thread for pieces we sold years ago.
The hide
Vegetable-tanned cowhide from a tannery that still uses bark liquors and takes weeks over it, rather than the chrome tannage that takes a day. Vegetable-tanned leather starts pale and stiff and ends up dark and shaped to whatever you did with it. Chrome leather looks identical on day one and identical on day one thousand, right up until it cracks.
Stitch and repair
Saddle-stitched by hand with waxed linen thread, two needles through every hole. A machine lock-stitch unravels from a single cut thread; a saddle stitch does not, because each stitch is knotted against the next one. If a seam ever does go, send it back — restitching is usually free and always cheaper than you expect.
